Egg prices soar in Japan amid cull of millions of chickens to fight worst-ever bird flu outbreak

Many in Japan can no longer afford to buy eggs for daily meals after a surge in prices over recent months as the nation grapples with its worst-ever outbreak of avian influenza. Since the virus began spreading in October 2022, Japan has culled over 17 million chickens to fight the disease.
