Auckland braces for Cyclone Gabrielle as thousands in New Zealand left without power

Residents in New Zealand’s largest city of Auckland and the surrounding area were told to brace for the incoming Cyclone Gabrielle on February 13, 2023. A state of emergency has been declared in eight northern regions, with more than 50,000 households without power. Cyclone Gabrielle came two weeks after record rainfall devastated the northern region.
