Volcano eruption in Philippines covers villages in ash, prompts evacuations

A volcano in the Philippines' Sorsogon province erupted on June 5, 2022, scattering ash in the eastern province’s villages and prompting evacuations. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology raised the alert level at Mount Bulusan following the 17-minute blast, and local officials have prohibited entry into the volcano’s four-kilometre radius danger zone. Mount Bulusan is one of the Philippines’ most active volcanoes in an already active region, known as the Pacific Ocean’s “Ring of Fire”.
