Japanese ‘smart’ chopsticks enhance food flavours to make them more savoury

Japanese researchers have developed innovative chopsticks that can enhance food flavours by connecting the chopsticks to a mini computer device on the wrist. A weak electric current that passes through sodium ions in food to the tongue can intensify salty flavours by 150 per cent. Developers hope the device will encourage healthier eating habits by lowering daily salt intake.
