US President Donald Trump signed three executive orders on February 1, 2025, imposing tariffs on goods imported from China, Canada and Mexico. The tariffs will go into effect on February 4, 2025. Goods coming from Canada and Mexico will receive a 25 per cent tariff, and Chinese imports will receive a 10 per cent tariff. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced retaliatory tariffs by imposing 25 per cent tariffs on US goods. China and Mexico also threatened to impose retaliatory measures against the US.
