Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah traded their largest attacks in months on August 25, 2024. Israel said it launched a pre-emptive strike in Lebanon and destroyed thousands of rocket launchers to prevent a larger attack from taking place. Hezbollah meanwhile said it successfully launched more than 300 drones and rockets at Israel, in retaliation for the killing of one of its commanders in July.
