Russia’s rouble has hit its lowest value against the US dollar since the war in Ukraine began in February 2022. The rouble weakened past 100 per US dollar on August 14 for the first time in 16 months, underscoring the growing pressures on Russia’s economy in the face of sanctions imposed by other countries as well as increased military spending and imports.
