Grieving Brazilians bury child who was among 4 killed in nursery axe attack

Grieving Brazilians held a funeral on April 6, 2023, for one of four children killed in a nursery axe attack the previous morning. The tragedy took place at a nursery in southern Brazil when a 25-year-old man armed with an axe climbed over a wall to enter the facility before attacking the children between the ages of five and seven years old. Four other children were injured before the attacker’s deadly rampage ended and he turned himself over to police. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has condemned the attack as a “monstrosity”.
