Villagers on front line of Syrian conflict remain stranded from home amid ongoing civil war

The northern Syrian town of Tadef remains on the front line of the ongoing civil war between Syrian government forces and foreign-backed rebels. The war broke out in 2011 after the government used force to crush dissidents fighting against the rule of President Bashar al-Assad, prompting many of the town’s residents to flee into rebel-held territory. But after running out of means to support themselves, many of the displaced residents have been forced to set up camp at the front line of fighting, still unable to return home.
