Saudi Arabia has executed more than 100 foreigners this year, a sharp increase in the use of capital punishment. The latest took place in the southwestern region of Najran, where a Yemeni national convicted of drug smuggling was executed on November 16, 2024, according to the official Saudi Press Agency. It brought the number of foreigners put to death so far in 2024 to 101, almost triple the figures for 2023 and 2022. Saudi authorities executed 34 foreigners during each of those years.
