Hsu Kai-hsiang does not have much company in Taiwan who shares his interest in a particular pastime. A self-professed merman, Hsu takes part in a hobby known as mermaid diving. But while this sub-aquatic performing community is already small, mermen are even rarer. The sport uses elements of free diving, in order for swimmers to hold their breath and stay deep under water.
