Hong Kong’s Airport Authority is spearheading a HK$100 billion (US$12.9 million) expansion project amid growing competition in the region. Vivian Cheung Kar-fay, acting CEO of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, said the Airport City project aims to transform the air transport centre into a multifunctional landmark, aligning with Beijing's vision to position Hong Kong as a global hub. Scheduled for completion by 2031, the initiative includes innovative components, such as large-scale artwork storage, a yacht club and a fresh food market to enhance the city’s appeal to tourists and investors.
