The first high-speed sleeper trains from Hong Kong to two mainland Chinese cities delivered hundreds of passengers to Beijing and Shanghai on the morning of June 16, 2024. The new overnight trains with sleeper carriages now connect Hong Kong with Beijing in 12.5 hours and Shanghai in about 11 hours. The services, which will run from Friday to Monday, immediately generated excitement among Hong Kong tourists and mainland visitors.
