West Kowloon Cultural District

Protesters say Hong Kong Palace Museum ad evokes Tiananmen crackdown

Dozens of protesters joined an event organised by Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China against the plan to build a HK$3.5 billion Hong Kong version of Beijing’s Palace Museum in West Kowloon Cultural District.

Opposing the lack of transparency in the project, protesters reenacted scenes of the June 4 crackdown, reminding what happened in Beijing 28 years ago.

The West Kowloon Cultural District is a development project that seeks to create a hub of arts and cultural venues in a 40-hectare area in Hong Kong.
