A brand new museum featuring artefacts from an archaeological site in China’s southwestern province of Sichuan has opened offering visitors their first look at recently unearthed objects from an ancient civilisation. Soon, over 100 of the Sanxingdui pieces will be moved to Hong Kong where they will go on display at the city’s Palace Museum. The September 2023 exhibit will feature many artefacts on their first showing outside Sichuan. The Post had a chance to look at the dig sites and museum to learn more about the Sanxingdui culture, which dates back at least 3,000 years and which is known for its distinctive masks and sculptures.
