Zhang Youxia, Vice-chairman of China's Central Military Commission, affirmed China’s stance towards Taiwan, saying that any moves to split the island from the mainland will not be tolerated. Zhang made his remarks in a keynote speech opening the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum. The gathering, dedicated to promoting exchanges and cooperation among defence authorities, international organisations and scholars, was held in the Chinese capital on October 30, 2023.
