Nepal has shut schools for three days after landslides and floods, triggered by two days of heavy rain across the Himalayan nation, killed over 120 people. Officials said on September 29, 2024, that 62 others remain missing. The floods brought traffic and most activities to a standstill in the Kathmandu Valley. Rescue efforts have intensified as the weather improves, but already dozens of deaths have been recorded in the region, which is home to four million people, and the capital Kathmandu.
