A North Korean missile landed south of the Northern Limit Line into South Korean waters for the first time on November 2, 2022, triggering air-raid sirens in the South Korean island of Ulleung. The launch was one of at least 17 missiles Pyongyang fired that day. South Korea’s president slammed the North’s launch as “an effective territorial invasion”, and Seoul responded with three air-to-ground missiles into waters north of the Northern Limit Line.
