North Korea has flexed its military muscle by testing a huge new solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile dubbed Hwasong-19, state media said on November 1, 2024. Pyongyang already faces international uproar over its troops being deployed to aid Russia in Ukraine. The October 31 launch flew higher than any previous North Korean missile, according to state media. Militaries in South Korea and Japan confirmed the height as they tracked the flight deep into space before it splashed down in the ocean between Japan and Russia. State news agency KCNA hailed the Hwasong-19 as “the world’s strongest strategic missile”.
