Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak is to serve 12 years in prison, after losing a final appeal over his corruption conviction related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal on August 23, 2022. In 2020, the former Malaysian leader was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined 210 million ringgit (US$46.79 million). Najib faces further charges in four other trials related to 1MDB.
