Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Najib Razak arrested on corruption charges

Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Najib Razak was arrested nearly two months after his defeat in the general election. He faces charges of criminal breach of trust and corruption, each carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Najib is seeking bail and earlier denied any wrongdoing, accusing the new government of taking “political vengeance”.
