Repatriation flights of more than 1,400 Chinese scam workers resumed on March 7, 2025, Thai television reported, as Thailand sought to show a crackdown on the flourishing fraud centres along its lawless borders was working. Dozens of apparent Chinese scam workers were patted down as they left a bus and boarded a China Southern Airlines jet at Mae Sot airport in Thailand’s northern Tak province. Meanwhile, hundreds of scam centre workers remain stranded in a detention centre in a Myanmar border town, caught in bureaucratic red tape.
