A group of 554 Indonesian citizens recently released from scam centres along the Thai-Myanmar border arrived home on March 18, 2025. Many of them said they were lured into the illicit business with promises of well-paying jobs only to end up being forced to work under threat of being hurt or killed by scam centre operators. Another group of 70 Indonesian workers is still awaiting repatriation from Myanmar.
