Congolese ‘Doctor Miracle’ receives Nobel Peace Prize for helping rape victims

Congolese doctor Denis Mukwege, 63, and Yazidi activist Nadia Murad, 25, were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize at a ceremony in Oslo, Norway on December 10, 2018 for their work against sexual violence as a weapon of war. Mukwege, also known as ‘Doctor Miracle’, helps his patients in the Democratic Republic of Congo recover from the stigma of rape as he seeks justice for war-rape victims on the global stage.
