Masked men broke into the set of a public television channel in Ecuador, waving guns and explosives during a live broadcast on January 9, 2024. The incident prompted the country’s president to declare a state of “internal armed conflict” in the South American country. The announcement came after gang leader Adolfo Macias escaped from jail on January 7.
