Berlin stops Chinese companies from investing in German chip makers over security concerns

The German government has blocked Chinese companies from investing in the chip makers Elmos Semiconductor SE and ERS electronic GmbH over security concerns. Berlin announced its move on November 9, 2022, at a time its relations with Beijing are sensitive following the October acquisition of a German port by Chinese shipping giant Cosco and days after a high-profile visit to China by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
