Men who have sex with men should limit their sexual partners and take additional precautions to curb the spread of monkeypox, said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director general of the World Health Organization, on July 27, 2022. There are currently more than 18,000 cases of monkeypox worldwide, with Europe reporting the highest numbers, representing 70 per cent of the world’s total. Serious illness remains rare and only five deaths have been linked to the virus.
