Russia continues assault on Ukraine despite promise to scale back attacks

Ukrainian officials reported shelling around the capital city of Kyiv and in the northern region of Chernihiv on March 30, 2022, despite a promise from Moscow to scale down its military operations in the region. Russian invasion forces have also continued their assault along nearly all cities along the front line in the eastern Donetsk region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian negotiators offered “only words” at recent peace talks and no specific measures to mark an end to hostilities between the two countries.
