Nato has told Ukraine’s leader that Kyiv will be able to join the 31-member transatlantic security alliance "when allies agree and conditions are met". While he voiced disappointment about a lack of a clear timetable for his nation’s membership, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed confidence in Western allies and the series of security assurances they announced during the two-day Nato summit and at an inaugural Nato-Ukraine Council meeting on July 12, 2023.
