Hong Kong cosplayers are out in force for the annual Ani-com & Games Hong Kong, which gets under way on July 26, 2024. Cosplay is a portmanteau of "costume play", where cosplayers dress up as colourful Japanese anime characters. While some consider cosplaying a niche subculture, the close-knit community in Hong Kong has a strong following. Organisers expect nearly 20,000 cosplayers to take part in the five-day event.
