Lunar New Year

Busy Lunar New Year fair brings some relief to Beijing’s small business owners

County fairs are an important part of Lunar New Year celebrations in China. People flock there to buy New Year’s supplies to prepare for the holiday, and they also come to experience the festive atmosphere. But in the past three Lunar New Years, county fairs across China have been cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. After China abandoned Covid-19 control measures in December 2022, county fairs have now returned, bringing some relief to small business owners, and joy to fair visitors ahead of the Year of the Rabbit, which begins on Jan. 22, 2023.
