Hongkongers flocked to the city’s well-known and popular place of worship - Wong Tai Sin Temple - on Lunar New Year’s Eve to ring in the Lunar New Year for the first time in two years. The tradition was suspended in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but thousands returned there on the eve of the new year on Jan. 21, 2023 to take part in festivities to ring in the Year of the Rabbit, including a ritual to be the first to offer incense to the temple’s deity at the stroke of midnight.
