China and Russia concluded the four-day joint military exercise “Northern/Interaction-2023” on July 23, 2023. The naval exercises were focused on maritime and air escort tasks, deterrence and expulsion, and anchorage defence. China’s Defence Ministry said the exercise was held to enhance strategic cooperation between the two countries and strengthen their ability to jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.
