Russia struck several Ukrainian cities with a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks on March 22, 2023, killing several people and wounding dozens more in areas from the southern city of Zaporizhzhia to a town just outside the capital of Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited troops near the front lines in the east of the country, imploring his people not to give up hope. The attacks come as Russian President Vladimir Putin bid farewell to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping who had been in Moscow for a three-day state visit. The two presidents discussed their bilateral economic partnership as well as the war in Ukraine.
