Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held talks in the Kazakh capital of Astana on July 3, 2024, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Xi said the two countries should work to safeguard each other’s legitimate rights and interests and defend the basic principles of international relations.
