The World Health Organization has started the global roll-out of the Covax Facility vaccine-sharing scheme with the delivery of Covid-19 shots to Ghana, the first nation outside India to get the jabs. The WHO is leading the international effort meant to ensure the world’s poorer countries receive fair and equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines to fight the pandemic. On February 24, 2021, a flight arrived at Ghana’s capital Accra carrying 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine from India where they were manufactured by the Serum Institute. Ghana will use the jabs to start its vaccination drive on March 2.
