Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet has officiated the reopening of a naval base in the country’s coastal southwestern Sihanoukville province following some China-sponsored upgrades. The April 5, 2025, ceremony was attended by China’s ambassador to Cambodia and a representative from Beijing’s Central Military Commission. The newly expanded Ream Naval Base will reportedly be able to accommodate larger vessels and has a dry dock for ship repairs.
