Cambodia is among the nations that remain littered with unexploded bombs that have killed tens of thousands of people since fighting in the country ended in 1998. US President Donald Trump ordered a pause on foreign aid soon after he returned to office on January 20, 2025. The decision has led to skilled deminers losing jobs and rural populations exposed to increased risks of injury from unexploded ordnance (UXOs).
