US-China conflict ‘unimaginable’ says Beijing’s top diplomat Wang Yi

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on March 7, 2024, that conflict with the United States would be “unimaginable”, and he noted that there has been some improvement in bilateral ties since China and the US last held a presidential summit in San Francisco in 2023. China’s top diplomat spoke on the sidelines of the annual “two sessions” gathering of China’s political elite and lawmakers in Beijing. It was his first major media session since he replaced Qing Gang, who was suddenly removed from office. In the press conference, Wang also questioned Washington’s credibility. He said US misconceptions about China persist and he accused Washington of using “various tricks” to try and contain Beijing.
