Abalone harvest season starts off China’s eastern coast

Abalone harvest season is well under way in China’s southeastern Fujian province. Scattered off China’s eastern coast, the hundreds of floating abalone farms allow fishermen to collect, sort and transport the sea snails to production companies or other farms, where they are kept until fully grown. China is the world’s largest producer of farmed abalone.
