After almost 1,000 days of wrangling in Canada, extradition hearings for Huawei Technologies Co executive Meng Wanzhou concluded on August 18, 2021. The verdict regarding whether the court will free the telecoms company’s chief financial officer or send her to stand trial in New York on fraud charges, could take months to deliver. Court officials said a case management conference will happen October 21, when a date for the ruling will be announced. The arrest of Meng in 2018 triggered a crisis for relations between China and Canada as well as the US.
