Residents in the Malaysian town of Tumpat returned to damaged homes and shops after the worst floods in decades swept through the town, which is on the country's northern border with Thailand. The torrential downpours and subsequent floods destroyed houses, transport links and thousands of hectares of rice crops. Dozens of people were killed. More heavy rain is expected to hit the region as soon as December 3, 2024.
