Devastating floods have displaced more than 140,000 people in Malaysia, but the country's education minister has refused to postpone a key exam that plays a crucial role in determining students' eligibility for university or their chances of finding good jobs. Vast areas, particularly along the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, have been submerged. The floods have claimed at least six lives. The situation is equally dire in neighbouring Thailand, where at least 12 deaths have been reported and more than 640,000 households affected since November 22, 2024.
