More than 1,500 Rohingya have landed in Indonesia’s westernmost province of Aceh since November, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), with at least 300 more arriving on December 10, 2023. But the refugees are facing an increasing wave of hostility and rejection from Acehnese locals, with some accusing them of being a “bad influence”.
