The US has blamed China and Russia for emboldening North Korea after the reclusive state test fired six missiles in 12 days. Speaking at a snap meeting of the United Nations Security Council on October 5, 2022, US representative Linda Thomas-Greenfield accused Beijing and Moscow of providing blanket protection to Pyongyang. She said the two nations have also “enabled” Kim Jong-un, the supreme leader of North Korea, also known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
