Indonesia turns plastic waste into alternative fuel for cement industry

As one of the world’s largest plastic polluters, Indonesia is playing an active role in global efforts to tackle plastic waste. Multinationals have been promoting the use of this new alternative power source as a win-win solution to tackle plastic waste and lower industrial emissions. But environmental groups say RDF production merely swaps one dirty fuel for another.
