In a crowded slum in India's western Gujarat state, workers have been painting hundreds of tin roofs with white paint hoping it will keep buildings cooler when the hottest months of the year arrive. The work involving 400 households in Ahmedabad, is part of a global scientific trial to study how indoor heat and the introduction of “cool roofs” might impact the health and economic outcomes of people in developing countries.
