Thai police used tear gas and rubber bullets outside Bangkok’s Grand Palace on March 20, 2021, after protesters demanding reforms of the country’s monarchy, broke through a barricade of shipping containers. It was the latest episode of social unrest since Thailand’s pro-democracy movement began in July 2020. Demonstrators are also calling for the release of detained activists and constitutional changes.
An emergency medical centre said the next day that more than 30 civilians and police were injured.
