Thailand protests

Thai king and queen meet thousands of supporters as pressure from anti-government protests mounts

Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida held a rare walkabout with thousands of supporters on November 1, 2020. The royalist supporters, nearly all dressed in the yellow colour associated with the monarchy, had gathered outside the Grand Palace in Bangkok for hours for a chance to see the king and queen, who were attending a religious ceremony at the venue. The royal appearance came as Thailand has seen months of mass, student-led protests calling for reform of the constitutional monarchy and to demand that the prime minister step down.
