Clashes erupted in Paris as nationwide protests against pension reform entered the eleventh day on April 6, 2023. Demonstrators threw bottles and paint at police and set fire to the awning of the bistro La Rotonde, one of French President Emmanuel Macron’s favourite restaurants. The Constitutional Council is expected to deliver its verdict on the pension bill on April 14. The bill proposes to raise the retirement age by 2 years to 64. Labour union leaders have called for another day of nationwide protests the day before the court ruling.
